Matthew 9:1-8 Healing Scriptures and MercyMe

Matthew 9:1-8 Healing Scriptures

And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.
And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.
And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.
And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?
For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?
But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
And he arose, and departed to his house.
But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.

My thoughts: Isn't it a shame that even when Jesus healed a sick person, people found fault with him. Why couldn't they have said something positive and been pleased that that person was healed. But Jesus didn't let the nay-sayers deter him from healing.  He told the guy to get up, grab your bed and to into your house and that is exactly what this guy did. So not only was this man healed of palsy, his sins were forgiven.  How awesome is that!

Matthew 8: 1-17 Healing Scriptures

Matthew 8: 1-17 Healing Scriptures

When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.
And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.
14 And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.
15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.
16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

My thoughts: Matthew 8 is full of healings.  In these short 17 verses, Jesus healed a leaper, the servant of the centurion, and the mother of Peter's wife. But that wasn't all.  Jesus healed many that were possessed and sick. I believe it was so many, that they couldn't count them all!  It's interesting to note the discussion with the centurion.  Jesus was all set to go to his house, but the centurion said he wasn't worthy. He knew that once Jesus spoke the word, the servant would be healed.

Jesus already spoke the words, but sometimes, in today's world, it isn't easy to grab that word and believe it.  I find it especially hard to keep believing when the results don't come fast enough.  When that happens, think about it this way; When you cut yourself, you might pour some peroxide over the cut and put a bandaid on.  We don't look every 2 minutes to see if the cut is healed and gone.  We are content to wait until it happens.  We know that our skin will heal because it always does.

The devil likes to keep people sick, running to doctors and complaining or doubting that healing is ours. That is when we have to take a stand and tell the devil to back off God's property. Jesus bought our healing by his stripes and death on the cross.

Matthew 9:18-26 Healing Scripture

Matthew 9:18-26

18 While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.
19 And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.
20 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:
21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
23 And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,
24 He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.
25 But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.
26 And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.

My thoughts. In these few short verses, Jesus heals two people and one is dead.  Death is as bad as it gets. I cannot even begin to imagine the grief that the parents were going through. But they went to Jesus and asked him to bring her back to life.

While Jesus is going to her house, there are people all around him. Only one lady, the lady with the issue of blood, makes her way through the people just to touch the hem of Jesus's garment. Instantly she was healed. It was so powerful, that she felt it the healing power go through her body and stop her bleeding.

Jesus continues on his way to the ruler's house.  The description at the rulers house made it seem like a carnival. Music, and dancing.

I don't blame Jesus when he sends the people away, telling them that the little girl is not dead, but asleep.  The crowd thought they knew more than Jesus, so they laughed at what He said.  But wouldn't you know, a few minutes spent with Jesus and the little girl rose up from her bed. She was healthy, restored, nothing missing, nothing broken.

It is my prayer for all those reading this blog post, to have their health restored. Jesus tells us to pray for one another. There is power in prayer and the more people praying for an individual, the more awesome the outcome is. Pray for someone else's healing so your own might be restored.

Proverbs 31:10-31 Scripture Honoring Mothers and Women

Happy Mother's Day!

Proverbs 31: 10-31

10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. 22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

My thoughts; Mothers are special in God's eyes. Think about all  your mother has done and sacrificed for you and her family through the years.

This Mother's Day and every day give her honor, respect and recognition. My mother is a strong lady. She got me through many rough times with her love, and encouragement. My mother is still living, but she is in a nursing home with moderately severe stages of Alzheimer's disease. Even though she may not always know me or my kids, I know deep in her soul she knows who we are and she still loves us.

The devil tries to steal those years away, but he cannot. God still has my mother and every mother in His hands, and He guides their footsteps.

Thank you Mom, for everything.

Luke 8:43-48 Healing Scripture & Kutless's Song 'What Faith Can Do'

Luke 8:43-48

43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,

44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.

45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

46 And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.

47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.

48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

My thoughts: This is a famous story about a woman who had gone to so many doctors, that she was totally broke, and she was STILL sick. She knew that to be healed, all she had to do was make her way through the crowds toward Jesus and touch the hem of his garment. Now this woman had an issue of blood, and she was not to be around people. It was illegal in those days for her to be in the town, but she stepped out in faith when she knew that Jesus was going to be there.

Even though the verse has Jesus asking, "Who touched me?" I'm sure that he knew it was her.  He was Jesus. What I believe Jesus was trying to do was to have her testify that she was healed by him. How many of us have gone to doctors and taken all their prescribed medication only to still be sick or, worse yet,  have it lead to more health problems?  Having faith in God and Jesus doesn't cause more health problems.  You can't overdose on God and His Word.

Check out what Jesus told her.  He said that her faith had made her whole.  Try believing for that miracle that only Jesus or God can provide. He's there waiting for you to ask.

One of my favorite Christian groups is Kutless. This song "What Faith Can Do" is about miracles, moving mountains, silent prayers answered, and a broken heart mended.

Mark 11: 22-26 Healing Scriptures

Mark 11: 22-26 Healing Scriptures
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

My thoughts:  Jesus tells us several things in these verses.  Have faith in God, believe that God can do it and to forgive. These are key elements to receiving your healing. The mountain that Jesus is referring it can mean several things such as sickness, lack, wanting your family together or a better job.

What mountain are you facing? Speak to that mountain and tell it to leave in the name of Jesus. Keep telling it to leave and remain faithful that God hears you and has answered.

Psalms 34 Healing Scriptures

Psalms 34

I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.
I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.
This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing.
11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
16 The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
17 The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.
22 The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.

My thoughts:  I posted this entire chapter because it tells all the good that the Lord will do for us if we keep away from evil. We need to trust in the Lord, and he will hear us, deliver us and protect us.

Pay attention to verse 19.  It states that many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. So even though we have afflictions, (You know the devil is going to keep trying.) God will get us through not one, or two, but ALL the afflictions.

Continue to praise the Lord for all that He has given you and continue to praise him even when the devil does everything he can to make us doubt or blame God for our sickness. Keep reminding yourself that 2000 years ago, Jesus took your sickness with each stripe the Romans gave Him. He defeated the devil and just as Jesus healed when he walked the earth, He still heals.

Lecrae's Music-Powerful Message

Lecrae's Music-Powerful Message

Today's word is going to be something different. I've been listening to some 'new to me' music, Lecrae.  He is a hip-hop artist with a powerful message.  The music is about God's love, Jesus's ultimate sacrifice, and the devil's lies and defeat.

I hope you enjoy Lecrae's music as much as I do.

Matthew 18:18-20 Healing Scripture

Matthew 18:18-20

18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask , it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."

My thoughts; Sickness is from the devil. When praying, bind the devil, cast him beneath you. Fix it in your mind that the devil has been stripped of his power by Jesus.

Sometimes, it takes two or more people praying with you, agreeing for your healing before you achieve results.  There is power in numbers.  If you have family members, ask them to pray for and with you. Hold hands as a point of contact.

You can also call up the church, and they will pray with you. There are many large non-denominational churches who offer a prayer line. Most of the time the calls are toll-free and the prayer is always free. They may ask for a donation, but you don't have to give them one.  Prayer, and religion should be given freely as Jesus did.  The prayer of agreement is powerful - have someone agree with you for your healing!

Jeremiah 30:17 Healing Scriptures

Jeremiah 30:17

Jeremiah 30:17  "For I will restore health unto you, and I will heal you of your wounds, saith the Lord."

My thoughts: Pay attention to the one speaking in this verse. If the Lord God never changes, then this verse never changes. It’s as true then as it is now. God can and will restore health unto you and He can and will heal you.

May 2, 2013 is the National Day of Prayer.  Let us take time to fellowship with God today. Tell Him what is happening in your life. Share your hopes, dreams, and problems.  It doesn't matter whether you need healing, peace, reassurance or joy. Whatever you are going through, God cares. Also, take time to pray for others as well.  Pray for people of this world who are hurting,  need salvation, or guidance. Lift up the nation in prayer, because we are falling further away from God.

Jeremiah 17:14 Healing Scriptures

Jeremiah 17:14

"Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise."

My thoughts; I love this verse! God tells you that Jesus paid for your salvation and healing at the same time with the same healing Blood.  Once you have it settled in your heart, mind, soul and spirit you can agree and say, "I will have healing just as I have salvation, it's mine. Jesus paid it all on the cross, by his wounds and shed blood. Let us praise our God."  With that we can trust and rely on God to heal us.

Matthew 4:23 - 24 Healing Scriptures

Matthew 4:23 - 24
Matthew 4:23 - 24 "And He went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the good news (Gospel) of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every weakness and infirmity among the people. So the report of Him spread throughout all Syria, and they brought Him all who were sick, those afflicted with various diseases and torments, those under the power of demons, and epileptics, and paralyzed people, and He HEALED them."
My thoughts; Jesus taught the Word of God, and He healed people along the way. Note, Jesus healed every disease, weakness, and infirmity that the people had. He didn’t say, “Wait, I’ve never seen this kind of disease before. I don’t know how to heal that. You’ll have to wait.” No, Jesus healed everyone and the good news is, he still heals today. Can you imagine being sick during those times when Jesus walked the earth and having to walk or have someone carry you across the country just to have Jesus heal you? That is dedication and devotion.
Jesus can meet us right where we are at this moment. He is just waiting for you to come to Him, believe in Him and in the fact that God can, will and still does heal. It is not always right away, but He will if you continue to praise and believe in Him.

Luke 1:37 Healing Scripture

Luke 1:37

37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

My thoughts: In these seven words, we learn that nothing is impossible with God. It doesn’t matter how complicated your sickness or situation is, God can handle it. It is just as easy for God to heal a cut, as it is to heal cancer. God made your body, the world, and everything in it. Why do we think that sickness is beyond Him. Just as you would take pills that the doctor gives you, take God’s word every day. You can never get too much of His Word, and it will never cause more problems in your body. Man’s medicine often causes more problems then it cures. You can overdose on man’s medicine, and it can kill you. God’s Word is powerful, and life. There are Bible accounts of God healing so many people. Nothing was or is too hard. He healed the blind, lame, people with leprosy. He never once turned someone away, saying that he didn’t know what to do or how to heal them. It’s time to turn back to God and His Word. He’s just waiting for you to ask Him, believe in Him, and stand strong until healing comes.
