Isaiah 53:3-5
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
My thoughts: These Bible verses foretell what Jesus’ death on the cross will accomplish for us. Transgressions are the sins we commit, breaking God’s law. I looked up the word iniquities to see what it really meant. Iniquities are sins that are committed repeatedly until it becomes a habit. This can include sins like stealing, lying, using drugs or always being drunk. But look at the last part of verse 5. It says that with his stripes, we are healed. Every stripe that Jesus took was for us, for our healing. It doesn’t say we’ll be healed when we die, or if we’re good enough. It doesn’t even say that we might be healed if God has the time. It states quite clearly that we are healed. Jesus took all that upon Himself for everyone so we could have fellowship with the Father, be forgiven, saved, healed, and have peace. So as you pray for healing, envision the stripes given to our Savior being your sickness. Remind the devil that Jesus already took your sickness and you’re not taking it back. Tell God what His word says in the bible because there is a verse that tells us that God’s word will not return to Him void.
