Ephesians 6:10-17

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

My Thoughts; The devil wants nothing more then to make people hate God, turn away and to be deceived. We are not fighting against flesh and blood, like what we can see or touch in this world; we are fighting against the dark powers and principalities in heavenly places.

That is why it is important to arm yourself with the word of God, because the Word is alive and powerful. If we immerse ourselves in God's word, and rely on God, the devil has to flee.

The devil leads believers to believe his lies, half-truths, and he messes with our emotions.  For example, you’re driving along and someone cuts you off in traffic. A person who is strong in the Lord, will say, "Thank you Lord that we weren't in an accident.” But the devil will mess with that. He'll make you believe that the person intentionally cut you off. That it was deliberate. The longer you think on those lies, the madder you become. Soon, you're pressing down on the accelerator looking for a confrontation. After all, that person cut you off.

We need to be obedient to God and His word. If we stand strong, believing God's word, then He will fight our battles for us and bring us through without a trace of smoke.
