Exodus 15:22-26

22 Then Moses led Israel forward from the Red Sea, and they marched out to the wilderness of Shur. After traveling for three days through the wilderness without finding water, 23 they arrived at Marah, where they could not drink its water, because it was too bitter. Hence this place was called Marah. 24 As the people grumbled against Moses, saying, "What are we to drink" 25 he cried out to the Lord,   who pointed out to him a piece of wood. When he threw it into the water, the water became fresh.
It was here that God, in making statutes and ordinances for them, put them to the test. 26 He said: If you listen closely to the voice of the Lord,  your God, and do what is right in his eyes: if you heed his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will not afflict you with any of the diseases with which I afflicted the Egyptians; for I, the LORD, am your healer.

My thoughts:
God led Moses and the Israelites out of Egypt. They were happy to be leaving, but soon they began to complain. They had been traveling in the desert for three days and couldn’t find any water to drink. Can you imagine walking through the hot, dry desert and not finding water? So the people started complaining and Moses cried out to God for water that was good to drink. You see, they found some, but it was bitter tasting. God showed Moses a stick, and when Moses threw it into the bitter water, the water turned sweet.

God tells the people three things. Listen to God’s Voice. Do what is right. Keep His commandments, and statutes. If you do these three things, God promised to be their healer. He said that they wouldn’t be afflicted with diseases like the Egyptians.

I an relate to this.  It is so easy to go through life when things are going good, but how many of us remember or take the time to thank God for those good times.  Instead, we often wonder how long those good times will last.

When things go wrong, it is easy to start complaining to God. Sin enters in, and we don’t think to repent right away until after we are sick. The time to do it is before. Seek God for healing. Remind Him of his promises. Keep talking with God and reminding him until healing comes. I know how easy it is to think, He’s God. He already knows. Yes, He does know, but he likes to be included in the things you want or need. Thank Him for what He has already done in your life.
